Google will allow advertising that promotes the crypto market on their Google AdWords platform across the US and Japan. The decision was announced this week. Crypto ads are on again!

This spring, Google announced that they will ban all crypto ads related online advertising starting July. This policy has influenced both search engine results and YouTube ads. The ban included all forms of advertising, from banners to animations. “Initial coin offerings, wallets and trading advice” are still not allowed.

Similarly, companies like Facebook, LinkedIn and Mailchimp have also updated their policies. The new terms and conditions ban ads that promote cryptocurrencies. Following these interdictions, Blockchain-based crypto companies in Switzerland, Kazakhstan and Armenia joined those in Russia, China and South Korea to initiate a joint lawsuit against major internet companies that banned crypto advertising.

At the end of June, Facebook announced it would lift restrictions on crypto ads. The company updated its banned financial products and services policy. More specifically, the social network since allows ads that refer to cryptocurrencies. However, the ban on ICOs advertising is still active.

A similar move took place this week. Google announced it would allow advertising that promotes cryptocurrencies on the Google AdWords platform, in the US and Japan. According to the recent announcement, not all companies will be able to do so. “Advertisers will need to be certified with Google for the specific country in which their ads will serve. Advertisers will be able to apply for certification once the policy launches in October.
