Numerous countries around the world realize the revolutionary potential of Blockchain. Earlier this summer, a representative of the Federal Council of Switzerland declared that Blockchain would influence all sectors of the swiss economy. At the same time, China’s President, Xi Jinping, said that Blockchain is part of the “technological revolution”. Thus, China will adopt an internal policy oriented towards the distributed ledger technology. Colombian authorities have also explored ways to benefit from using cryptocurrency and Blockchain. Most recently, Turkey launched a new learning&research center – BlockchainIST Center. This is the Turkish authority’s solution of opening the way for the next generation of Blockchain investors and innovators.
Istanbul’s Blockchain and Innovation Center was launched earlier the month at Bahçesehir University (BAU). According to the Daily Sabah news agency, BlockchainIST was created to cover “the expertise gap in the market”. More than that, it aims to spread the usage of Blockchain across the economy. This is the first such university-level Blockchain center.
Bora Erdamar, the director of BlockchainIST Center, made a statement regarding the institution. He believes that this is “the most important center of research and development and innovation in Turkey, in which scientific studies and publications are made in Blockchain technologies”. Erdamar emphasized the importance of cooperating with other educational institutions, businesses and government institutions. This allows for an adequate research into Blockchain, examining all possible uses.
The Center intends to use the same Blockchain technologies as the rest of the world. More than that, the Center will work with students and entrepreneurs in order to carry out academic studies in this field. Director Erdamar declared that a team of experts from Turkey and all around the world will participate in said studies. BlockchainIST aims to become a world-class prestigious center, bringing benefits to anyone interested in Blockchain technology.
