The last months of 2017 saw massive price fluctuations for Bitcoin, ranging between $6.000 and $10.000. The crypto market had a downgrade this month. More than that, the market didn’t really have an important recovery since December’s bull run. Ultimately, Bitcoin’s price movement had changed the range of trading. The question on everybody’s mind is: what will happen with the first decentralised coin until the end of 2018? According to some reports, the price predictions are optimist and Bitcoin will have a bullish movement. However, others seem to believe that the price will not skyrocket.

 

Price Predictions and Market Capitalization

Last year, thanks to the bull movement of Bitcoin, the prices went up. Evidently, this led to a growth of the market capitalization. Moreover, the prices of other currencies have also grown. At first, the market growth was due mostly to the trades of retail investors. These individual investors couldn’t make their profit. This is how they started to buy and sell at higher prices.

Analyst Sean Williams made a price prediction at the beginning of the year regarding Bitcoin. He declared that Bitcoin’s value will be halved and that is precisely what happened. Williams explains that there is still uncertainty regarding the price movement. This trend depends on the regulations that take place all around the world, especially in the United States and Asia. Also, institutional investors can have a big influence over the price of the market.

Bitcoin Hegemony Lost?

Williams declared that Bitcoin will lose its place in time. There is the possibility that Bitcoin loses its place as the largest and most important cryptocurrency in the world.

Some predicted that Ethereum could replace Bitcoin, given the fact that ETH comes next after BTC. An important growth factor is that  Ethereum Alliance has over 500 organizations that work for them.
